Privacy Policy

Immanuel Church Dublin Last updated: 14 June 2026

Immanuel Church Dublin ("we", "us", "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect through our website, why we collect it, how we use and protect it, and the rights you have over it. We are the data controller for the information described below.

Who we are

  • Immanuel Church Dublin
  • Registered Charity Number: 1089081
  • Contact: immanuel@immanuelchurchdublin.org

This policy covers our website only. It applies to the two ways we collect information directly from you — our contact ("Get in touch") form and our email newsletter sign-up — together with the basic visitor statistics our website tools collect. We do not collect personal data through the site in any other way.

Information we collect and why

1. "Get in touch" / contact form

When you use our contact form, we collect the details you choose to give us — typically your name, your email address, your message, and the area of church life you're interested in.

  • Why we use it: to read and respond to your enquiry, and to follow up where appropriate.
  • Lawful basis: our legitimate interest in responding to messages people send us (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).
  • Sensitive information: if your message or chosen area of interest reveals information about your religious beliefs, that is treated as "special category" data under the GDPR. Where this applies, we rely on your explicit consent in choosing to share it with us (Article 9(2)(a)) and/or the provision that allows a religious body to process such information about people who contact it (Article 9(2)(d)). Please don't share sensitive personal information you would prefer us not to hold.
  • How long we keep it: we keep enquiries only as long as needed to deal with them and for a reasonable period afterwards, then delete them.

2. Email newsletter sign-up

When you sign up to our email list, we collect your email address.

  • Why we use it: to send you the church updates and communications you asked to receive.
  • Lawful basis: your consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR), given when you submit the sign-up form.
  • Withdrawing consent: you can unsubscribe at any time using the link in every email we send, or by emailing us. Withdrawing consent is as easy as giving it, and does not affect anything we did with your information before you withdrew.
  • Our email provider: we manage our list and send emails using Mailchimp. Your details are stored on Mailchimp's systems for this purpose (see "Sharing and international transfers" below).
  • How long we keep it: we keep your details until you unsubscribe or ask us to remove them.

3. Website statistics and cookies

Our website uses Google (Google Analytics) and Jetpack to collect statistics about how visitors use the site — for example pages viewed, approximate location, and device and browser type. These tools may set cookies and process information such as your IP address.

  • Why we use it: to understand how our website is used so we can improve it.
  • Lawful basis: your consent for non-essential/analytics cookies, in line with the ePrivacy Regulations (collected via our cookie banner where shown).
  • Providers: Google (Google Analytics) and Jetpack (provided by Automattic). These providers process this information under their own privacy policies.

We do not use this information to identify individual visitors, and we do not collect personal data through the website in any other way.

Cookies

Cookies are small files placed on your device. Our site uses:

  • Essential cookies needed for the website to function.
  • Analytics cookies set by Google and Jetpack to measure site usage, as described above.

You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings, and decline non-essential cookies where a cookie banner is shown. Blocking some cookies may affect how the site works.

Sharing and international transfers

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with others for their own marketing. We share information only with the service providers that help us run the website and communications described above — currently Google, Automattic (Jetpack) and Mailchimp — and only as needed for those purposes, or where we are required to by law.

Some of these providers are based outside the European Economic Area (for example, in the United States). Where your information is transferred outside the EEA, it is protected by appropriate safeguards, such as the EU–US Data Privacy Framework and/or Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission.

How we protect your information

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to keep your information secure and to limit access to those who need it. No website or internet transmission is ever completely secure, but we work to protect your data and to deal quickly with any issues that arise.

Your rights

Under the GDPR and Irish data protection law, you have the right to:

  • access the personal information we hold about you;
  • have inaccurate information corrected;
  • have your information erased ("right to be forgotten");
  • restrict or object to our use of your information;
  • receive certain information in a portable format (data portability);
  • withdraw your consent at any time, where we rely on consent.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at immanuel@immanuelchurchdublin.org. We will respond within the time limits set by law (normally one month).

Complaints

If you have a concern about how we handle your information, please contact us first so we can try to put it right. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Irish supervisory authority:
